Veterinary Nurse and Support Staff Training

VSS has been teaching a large animal veterinary nursing elective at Melbourne Polytechnic for the last few years. Materials developed in this elective module which runs for a full semester and includes practical handling, have been modified to create training seminars for veterinary nursing and support staff working in mixed animal veterinary practices. There are a series of 4 seminars which cover understanding farm processes, triaging farm calls, communication with producers, understanding production animal pharmacy, managing production animal in-patients, anaesthesia and surgery and production animal jobs that can be carried out by a qualified veterinary nurse/technician.

If you feel your clinic could benefit from these seminars to help upskill your nursing and support staff to better manage all aspects of production animal work, please contact us for more details or to book in.
