On-call Support and Development

The aim of this service is to build confidence and competence of the less experienced vets with on-call duties, enabling more self-sufficiency over time. This service helps to shift some of the burden of this necessary development from senior clinic vets to VSS.  On-call support services provide back-up on-call only.

VSS can offer both week night and weekend support for less experienced vets performing on-call duties across all animal species. Support may be in the form of phone calls or on-site/on-farm practical assistance.

A fixed fee is charged to be on-call either overnight or for the weekend and incorporates unlimited phone call support. If the graduate requires on site assistance, an hourly rate will be charged on top of the fixed on-call fee.

There is no obligation of the graduate to have VSS attend the call after requesting phone support. Within reason, VSS allows the decision to request practical assistance to be made by the graduate.
