VSS can provide a broad range of tutorials and practicals to advance your new graduate in bovine medicine and surgery as well as more general personal and professional skills.
A tutorial is a learning session delivered either face-to-face in your clinic, or online via Zoom. They are typically supported by MS PowerPoint and are written and presented from a clinical perspective, concentrating on the practical application of veterinary skills. Tutorials typically take between 1 and 1.5hrs.
All tutorials can be delivered to multiple vets and can be arranged either within clinic hours or after. The choice of topics is very flexible and can be guided either by the graduate or clinic needs.
Practicals are on-farm learning sessions focusing on the development of practical clinical skills. They are designed to both actively demonstrate practical skills and allow the graduate time to practice and develop these skills in a real farm setting. Practicals are to be arranged within clinic hours utilising farms serviced by your practice. Arrangement of on-farm practicals will be with your guidance of farm (and farmer) suitability, can accommodate up to 2 graduates at a time and are likely to take a minimum of 2 hours. Small group numbers aim to optimise graduate exposure, reduce excessive cattle handling and minimise farm (and clinic) disruption. VSS welcomes suggestions and guidance for appropriate topics for on-farm practical skills sessions.
